Rockmart, GA – July 30, 2025 — The L.E.A.R.N. Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its athletic initiative with track and field, aimed at nurturing young athletes and laying the groundwork for a future comprehensive athletic program. This summer, sixth grader Andrew Trimble became the first student to benefit from this initiative—and his journey has already made history in Polk County.

Under the expert guidance of, CEO, founder, and retired enlisted Air force veteran with over 35 years of coaching experience, Dr. Dalton Lemelle and, veteran outreach specialist, Ms. Angela Campbell, Andrew began training in early June in the shot put, discus, and Aero Javelin. Just five days into his training, he competed in his first-ever track meet at the Alabama State Games in Center Point, Alabama on June 14. Despite being new to the sport, Andrew placed 4th in discus, 7th in shot put, and 8th in javelin—an impressive debut among fields of 13 or more competitors per event.

Fueled by a growing passion for throwing, Andrew continued to train daily, leading up to the Georgia State Games in Marietta on July 18. Competing in the discus throw, he achieved a 6th place finish with a throw of over 43 feet, earning his first ribbon. Yet, Andrew wasn’t satisfied—he wanted a medal.
With encouragement from his coaches, Andrew entered the Alabama Last Chance Track and Field Meet in Center Point, Alabama on July 26. There, his dedication paid off. He secured:
1st place in Shot Put (6.98 meters)
1st place in Discus (14.75 meters)
2nd place in Aero Javelin (9.47 meters)
“Andrew showed up to compete,” said Coach Lemelle. “In just seven weeks, he learned, listened, and proved to be incredibly coachable — qualities that will take him far in life.” Coach Campbell added, “We are so proud of Andrew. He told his mom he would bring home a medal, and he did just that.”

Andrew trained in humble settings—across from DJ’s Family Kitchen and on church grounds near his apartment in Cedartown. He was the only Polk County youth to compete in all three meets this summer.
“I’m thankful for the opportunity,” Andrew shared. “I knew I could win if I had another chance. I can’t wait for football season—and for next summer to compete again. I hope more of my friends can join me next time.”
The L.E.A.R.N. Foundation’s athletic program is just the beginning. With stories like Andrew’s, the foundation is committed to expanding access to athletic training and building a full-fledged youth sports program in the near future.
