The Veterans Upward Bound Programs' participants have served their country and are continuing their service by serving their local community through the L.E.A.R.N. Foundation's Veterans Outreach Program. This local nonprofit organization has made it their mission to provide innovative and structured community outreach programs and activities to enhance individuals and families. For this event, they partnered with the KSU TRiO programs to contribute to their annual back to school bash held for high school students and the families of Polk, Rockmart, and Paulding counties. The L.E.A.R.N. Foundation inc, receives donations of clothes, books, toys, and food throughout the year for giveaways that they host.
"We are committed to working with all communities to promote success of all people and creating positive learning environments where community members feel safe, valued, and respected," states CEO and Air Force Veteran, Dr. Lemelle.

On this day, veterans made it their mission to make sure the students had the tools they needed to start school off on a positive note with what they need to succeed. They did so by packing and distributing over 100 bags of food and school supplies.
